1. Who we are
Noble Salah is a free Islamic prayer companion app developed and maintained by Noble Wave, based in New Delhi, India. This policy explains how the Noble Salah mobile app (Android and iOS) and web app handle your information.
For privacy questions or requests, see the contact details in §10.
2. What data Noble Salah uses
Noble Salah is designed to work without an account. We do not ask you to register, sign in, or provide an email address to use the app. The data the app uses falls into three groups:
2.1 Data you provide or generate, stored only on your device
- Approximate location — your last known coordinates, used to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction.
- Prayer settings — calculation method, madhab, time offsets.
- Prayer tracking records — which prayers you marked completed, qada counters, streak count.
- Tasbih and Dhikr — counter state, custom dhikr you add, recitation history.
- Quran preferences — bookmarks, last-read position, reciter selection.
- Adhkar and Ayah-of-the-Day — daily completion flags and cached content.
- Display preferences — language, theme, gender setting (used to show gender-appropriate rulings).
On mobile, this data is stored in the app's private SQLite database and SharedPreferences. On the web, it is stored in your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage. None of it is uploaded to a server we control.
2.2 Permissions we request on your device
| Permission | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Location (approximate) | Calculate prayer times and Qibla direction. You can decline and enter a city manually instead. | Mobile + Web |
| Notifications | Local athan and prayer reminders. Notifications are scheduled on the device — they are not pushed from a server. | Mobile only |
| Magnetometer / compass sensor | Live Qibla compass needle. Static bearing is shown if the sensor is unavailable. | Mobile only |
| Battery optimization exemption | Optional, to ensure scheduled athan alarms fire reliably on Android. | Android only |
| Network access | Stream Quran recitation audio (see §2.3) and check for app updates from Google Play. | Mobile + Web |
2.3 Data sent over the network
Noble Salah makes a network request only in the following cases. In each case, only standard request metadata (such as your IP address and the requested URL) is visible to the receiving service — no personal identifiers, account information, or app data is included.
- Quran recitation audio — when you press play on a verse, audio is streamed from the public Quran audio CDN at everyayah.com. Their CDN may log your IP address as part of normal web-server operation. We do not control everyayah.com's privacy practices; please review their site if you need details.
- App updates (Android only) — the app uses Google Play's in-app-update API to check whether a newer version is available. This is handled entirely by Google Play services on your device. See Google's privacy policy.
- Web hosting — when you load the web app, the hosting provider serves the static files. Logs may include your IP address and browser user agent, as is standard for any website.
2.4 What we do NOT collect
- No accounts, sign-ins, email addresses, phone numbers, or names.
- No analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, etc.).
- No crash-reporting SDKs (no Crashlytics, Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.).
- No advertising SDKs and no ad identifiers.
- No social-media trackers.
- No background uploads of any kind.
3. How your data is used
The data described in §2.1 is used solely to provide the features you see in the app — calculating prayer times for your location, remembering which prayers you marked, showing your tasbih count, etc. It never leaves your device for any other purpose.
4. Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third parties involved are the Quran audio CDN and Google Play's update service, both described in §2.3, and they only ever see standard network metadata — never your prayer history, location, settings, or any other in-app data.
5. Your control over your data
- View what's stored: open Settings → Privacy in the app for an itemised list of the data on your device.
- Erase everything: open Settings → Privacy → Wipe all data. This permanently deletes all locally stored preferences, counters, custom dhikr, bookmarks, and location data on the current device.
- Uninstall: uninstalling the mobile app removes all app data. Clearing your browser's site data removes everything for the web app.
- Revoke permissions: location, notifications, and battery permissions can be revoked at any time from your device's system settings.
6. Data security
Because Noble Salah stores data only on your device, the security of that data depends primarily on your device's own security (screen lock, OS updates, full-disk encryption). The app does not transmit user data, so there is no server-side database that could be breached.
Network requests for Quran audio and app-update checks are made over HTTPS.
7. Children
Noble Salah is suitable for users of all ages and is commonly used by families. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no account is required and no personal data is transmitted, the app has no means of identifying a user as a child.
8. International users
Noble Salah does not transfer your data internationally because it does not transfer your data at all. The app functions entirely on your device.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how Noble Salah handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Effective" date at the top. For material changes, we will also include a notice in the app.
